About Decimitry Sciences

Decimitry Sciences is a UK–US company headquartered in Oxford, specializing in causal reasoning for enterprises, irrespective of data quality. Its technology merges causal inference, multidimensional data processing, predictive analysis, and novel mathematical models to deliver adaptive, human-level decision-making, even when data is limited or mostly nonexistent.

About the project

Decimitry Sciences builds enterprise-grade, mathematically rigorous causal intelligence models that map cause-and-effect over time to power reliable prediction, decision-making, and robust reasoning, especially where data is limited or even largely non-existent. You’ll help advance the mathematical and computational foundations of these models and apply them to real, high-impact B2B settings.

About the role

You’ll join a team of mathematicians and applied researchers at Decimitry to strengthen the mathematical foundations of causal intelligence. Day to day, you’ll develop models that extract stable, decision-useful structure from limited, heterogeneous, time-dependent data in B2B contexts, including quantifying the influence of socio-economic drivers. The work spans theory and practice and is designed to have direct impact in business environments.

Potential research directions

You will be part a larger, multi-disciplinary team at Decimitry Sciences working with leading researchers in stochastic analysis and PDE combined with the data science team at Decimitry Sciences and our on-team social-economic human-behaviour expert.

Potential research directions include, but are not limited to:

  • Stochastic analysis; partial differential and non-linear equations
  • Scalable optimization algorithm development and analysis
  • Stochastic processes and rough paths
  • High-dimensional matrices and tensors (and their decompositions)
  • Learning on non-Euclidean data

What we’re looking for (Essential)

  • PhD in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, or a closely related field
  • 2–3 years of postdoctoral experience in a university mathematics department
  • Depth in at least one of: PDEs, non-linear equations, or stochastic analysis
  • Some knowledge and experience in numerical analysis/scientific computing and optimization
  • Evidence of high-quality publications or preprints
  • Clear, confident academic writing and presenting; collaborative mindset
  • Proficiency in Python desirable

Key responsibilities

  • Develop mathematical models suited to limited data in pre- and post-COVID consumer B2B markets
  • Conduct original research aligned to project goals
  • Help interpret and translate mathematical models into code with the Decimitry Sciences team (we work in Python) / MATLAB / Mathematica
  • Publish in peer-reviewed journals; lead and co-author papers
  • Communicate clearly; solve problems collaboratively; work effectively in a team
  • Demonstrate flexibility and creativity in approaching complex challenges
  • Carry out original, independent research and produce high-quality papers
  • Identify, develop, and apply new concepts, techniques, and methods
  • Maintain best practice in research integrity, data management, and reproducibility
